Well, first off, yesterday was Chase's 18th birthday!  Whoop! Happy Birthday man, you can officially buy snakes without a parent signature!  Congrats buddy, I hope you had a great birthday and that there are many more to come!

Second, the 1st ever Ruddock Reptiles Newsletter was sent out yesterday and is going to be a new part of the News Feed here.  We're going to be creating and sending out a newsletter outlining what is going on with us and our animals monthly.  If you would like to join the current mailing list plese let us know via email at pcruddock@ruddockreptiles.com.

More good news!!!  I came home from dinner the other night and found 5 more eggs in Boo's cage!  She double clutched for me!  I'm not so sure that the eggs are going to be good, as all but two were definitely slugs.  Still, it was another surprise that we weren't expecting this year and the other eggs are getting close!  I candled again with a small light and can see snakes moving inside the eggs!  We're only about two weeks away from their expected hatch date so stay tuned in for updates on the little fellas.  Right now there is actually some debate as to the genetics of the mother, so we may end up getting something we weren't expecting at all!

Also, I got a new boy to add to the collection.  He's not going to be used in any breeding projects, but he's a beautiful, adult Bull Snake from KJ Lodrigue.  This guy is absolutely awesome!  He's hand-tame, eats like a pig, and his colors are magnificent.  He's an Albino White-sided (a.k.a Snow) Bull name Sue.  I'm really excited about the new addition and should have some pictures up here shortly, I'm just swamped right now with work, school, and the New Site!!!

That's right!  Payton Ruddock Photography is up and running. I'm updating the site as quickly as possible and trying to get more galleries up each day.  There is going to be a shopping system installed as well so you can quickly and efficiently request my services for a Portrait Shoot or you can buy prints of your favorite Reptile shots directly from me!  It's going to be an awesome sister site to Ruddock Reptiles and I'm really excited about it!  I hope ya'll are too!  Well, that's a wrap for today!  Welcome to Ruddock Reptiles, kick back, relax, and get a little R&R!

Well, I hate to bring some bad news to the feed, but I had a pretty devastating weekend about a week and a half ago.  I ended up being right about Angel, and she was pregnant when I imported her in December.  Sad thing is, she gave birth to 14 stillborns and no live babies.  I took it pretty hard, but it's just one of those facts of life and most likely she was cooled down and stressed out from the move and that's one of the main factors in why I lost the babies.  On the brighter side of things, I candled the Corn Snake eggs this past week and we've got veins! So, I'm really excited about the eggs and I'm over half way there now on the waiting period and can't wait to see what hatches out.  Keep checking the News Feed for further updates, and Chase should have galleries and Available Ball Pythons up by next week.  Thanks for making it over to Ruddock Reptiles and Enjoy!

Great news everyone, all the Ball-Python babies are out of the eggs! Unfortunately, the last baby was deformed in the jar and I was forced to put it down. So the final count is 3 pastels and 2 normals and I couldn't be happier with the odds. No sexes yet because I'm waiting for all the babies to go through the first shed cycle. Check for updates soon in the Galleries and Available sections!

So I just had one heck of a surprise last night.  I left town for the weekend to go see my grandparents in Houston, and low and behold I return to a clutch of corn eggs!  No real warning at all, but I scrambled and put something together and now I'm watching and hoping that at least a couple will hatch.  They were somewhat dried out, so hopefully here in the next day or two they'll plump up and we'll have 13 good little corns hatching in about 9 weeks!  The anticipation is killing me and I know Chase is already tired of waiting for his!  This has been a great season so far and hopefully the good news just keeps right on coming!

On a few side notes - Our Galleries page is now up and running and new Galleries will be going up like wildfire here in the next week or two so keep checking them out and give us some feedback on what you think.  We love to hear from the people who visit our site.  We also have a Reptile Geeks page that is up and in progress so check us out on the Reptile Geeks site at www.reptilegeeks.com/ruddockreptiles.  The page will contain a little more information about us, links to some of our friends in the herping world, some general picture galleries, and a blog that you can respond to and interact with us!  Lots of great things happening here at Ruddock Reptiles so keep on visiting for the updates!  Enjoy!

Just wanted to get on here and let all of you know how the eggs are coming along.  They're looking great as of right now!  My homemade incubator is working great and the humidity is looking spot on.  No mold growing and as of right now (knock on wood) it's looking like we've got all six eggs!  Time will tell but I'm really excited right now and we'll hopefully have some little snakes here in a little over a month!

Well...we're taking you for another turn in the road here at Ruddock Reptiles as I woke up to one heck of a surprise this morning.  I know that in our previous update we stated that Big Bertha didn't take, but this morning when I checked her tank I found 6 beautiful eggs waiting for me!!!  They're all looking fertile and they're in the incubator cookin away!  As I'm sure you're all aware this could possibly be our first clutch ever here at Ruddock Reptiles and we're as stoked as ever!  Stay tuned in here for future updates as I'll try to post them as often as I can.  Pictures of the eggs will be up as soon as tomorrow so be sure to check out the gallery section in the next couple of days for our first update to that page!

Updates are finally in order.  We've got some good things going on here at Ruddock Reptiles and some not so good things.  On the negative side, we're pretty sure that Big Bertha didn't take this year and we're under the impression that the pastel just wasn't ready yet and was still too juvenile to be fertile.  We were pretty disappointed by that, but there's always next year!  The female Viper Boa is still showing signs of being pregnant so we're still hopeful that she's going to be due in June sometime, but the most recent happenings have to do with the Corn Snakes.  Boo and Bandit are both at a breeding weight and have been showing a lot of interest in each other when I get them out to feed, so I decided to throw them together and see what happens, and they've locked up 3 times now over the past 5 days!  I'm really excited and not sure what to expect, but I'm going to put them together a few more times over the next 5 days and watch to see what happens.  We may have corns earlier than we thought!

As for the site you may have noticed we FINALLY got around to working on it some more (sorry for the extreme delays) and our Collection page is now up and functional.  The Field Herping Journal is now updated as well with pictures and up to date posts.  The newest additions, however, have been the new Care Sheets added to the Care Sheets page, and for all of you future field herpers that just don't know where to start, we've come up with a few quick guides to help get your field herping feet on the ground and some snakes in your sights!  Enjoy the new additions and stay tuned for more here shortly as the Herping and Breeding seasons are well underway here at Ruddock Reptiles, where everybody could use just a little R&R!

Howdy!  Just a quick update on the site and the collection.  We're slowly working on this bad boy and hope to have all of the pictures back up soon.  Because of copyright issues, you'll notice that we've added a little watermark to our pictures on here to deter any type of idea theft.  Also, on a more important note, I won a photocontest and as my prize I was awarded a beautiful '07 Boa Constrictor Imperator from Jay over at Chico Reptiles.  I just want to say thanks again Jay!  Hope ya'll continue to enjoy Ruddock Reptiles.  Be on the lookout for new photos, a new field herping season, hopefully some available snakes, new caresheets, and plenty of fun on here in the near future!  Enjoy!

Well, If ya'll haven't noticed we've done a little bit of a makeover here.  That's right, we sat down and actually learned how to make a website work right!  Good news is we should be doing tons more in the months to come and this little blog spot should fill ya'll in on what's going on with Ruddock Reptiles and whatever else we feel is worth mentioning.  Have a look around and enjoy yourself here at Ruddock Reptiles... cause everyone needs a little R&R.

Another wonderful surprise!  The two viper boas that I had imported in early December came in healthy and are doing great, but I got more than I had originally bargained for.  My girl is preggo!  She hasn't eaten since I got her and her backend continues to get more and more swollen, so I'm extremely excited and fairly certain that she was imported having already been bred.  Now, this wasn't exactly what I was hoping for, but nobody is going to turn down babies right!  Anyways stay posted for updates on her and Big Bertha as we're both excited about the next few months!

Good news everyone, Ruddock Reptiles is finally off and rolling!  Our first hook-up is in its process and the ball pythons are going at it!  I stayed home sick the other day and chose the right time to walk in!  I caught the pastel and Big Bertha getting it on with a little good morning lovin'.  I'll be sure to keep ya'll posted as things progress, and I'm planning on reintroducing them every couple of days until they seem to be through.  Hope ya'll are just as psyched as I am!
